Claire’s Sharing Program

Standard

The schools here call their end of the year programs “sharing programs” because they always relate directly back to what the kids are doing currently in the curriculum.  The first and second graders received a grant this year to work with a local theater company to write a play related to what they were learning in science.  Second grade created a play all about simple machines, and first grade created a play all about the states of matter.

Here is the entire intro of the program and all of first grade’s play, broken into segments.  The first and last songs were not original, but the middle song (chant? rap?) –  “Matter Matters” – was written entirely by the kids, with the help of the Theater Guy.
